This series of games was based upon a nuclear war raging a cross the world due to struggling relationships with communist China, and destroying nearly everything in it's path. However, in the aftermath of the war, people began to come out of hiding, and start setting up little settlements. It takes place in a number of places, including; The Southwest California, The Mojave Desert, and even Washington DC. Many people survived in "vaults" underground safety shelters created by the corporation "Vault Tec".

Publisher: Interplay Entertainment(1-BoS), Bethesda Softworks (3- NV)

Legal DisputeEdit

In 2007, Bethesda bought the Fallout franchise and all of it's legal rights from Interplay for $5.75 million. However, Bethesda granted Interplay the rights to develop a Fallout MMO, with 12% revenue going to Bethesda. But, Interplay had not created said MMO, by the date that was permitted, and campaigned for more time, even going to court. Bethesda won the battle, being the "sole owner, and proprietor" of the franchise. This ruined any chances of the MMO ever being created, and Project V13 (Fallout Online) was shut down.
